On the 21st of September 2021, R&D Project Manager, Dr. Charalambos Klitis, and Senior Project Manager, Mr. Philippos Philippou, represented eBOS Technologies at the 3rd plenary meeting of the Horizon 2020 project MARSAL “Machine Learning-Based, Networking and Computing Infrastructure Resource Management of 5G and Beyond Intelligent Networks”. The meeting, in which all 14 consortium partners participated, was held virtually and chaired by the Project Coordinator, Dr. Christos Verikoukis, representing Centre Technologic De Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC).
Following the progress achieved in the first months of the project, the MARSAL use cases were the main discussion topic. The four use cases describe and aim towards revolutionised applications, possible only with future Beyond 5G and 6G networks:
- Dense User-Generated Content distribution with mmWave Fronthauling;
- Ultra-dense video traffic delivery in a converged Fixed-Mobile network;
- Cognitive Assistance and Smart Connectivity for next-generation sightseeing;
- Data security and privacy in multi-tenant infrastructures.
The quality of experience to be achieved in the use cases through the architecture of the MARSAL project spurred discussions, to which the technical work package leaders contributed with a presentation of the initial architecture and design which will be further evolved and finalised in the coming months.
